Cafe XO sits at the sunny corner of Church and 30th Street in San Francisco’s Noe Valley, offering a casual yet thoughtfully designed spot where locals gravitate for both coffee and light meals. The cafe strikes a balance between a relaxed neighborhood hangout and a semi-fancy coffee shop, with an interior that feels inviting but never overly polished—enough outlets and Wi-Fi make it a popular choice for remote work or study sessions.

The vibe here leans into an authentic, down-to-earth San Francisco experience as you might find at a family-run spot with no pretensions. Regulars appreciate that laptops are welcome without fuss, and background noise might include muted telenovelas playing on a screen, adding a touch of warmth without distraction. Seating extends outside, where on clear days you’ll find people soaking up sun on Church Street, enjoying their food or coffee in neighborhood company.

The menu is straightforward but thoughtfully curated, anchored by items like Belgian waffles, quiche Lorraine, and the notably fresh California turkey sandwich topped with avocado on artisanal bread. These simple dishes fit well with the café’s unhurried atmosphere, making it a strong stop for a cozy brunch or a midday pick-me-up. Pastries—including melt-in-your-mouth crumb cake and molasses cookies—pair naturally with the hot, carefully made espresso drinks and cappuccinos.

This is a spot for those who want quality coffee without the fuss of trend-chasing spots, valuing friendly service and welcoming staff over barista spectacle. It fits well for locals who want a reliable place to work quietly, chat with friends over a salad or sandwich, or grab a casual breakfast before day’s errands. Mid-mornings and early afternoons particularly highlight Cafe XO’s charm, when sunlight warms the corner tables and the pace feels comfortably unhurried.

Located at Church and 30th st. Excellent food and cappuccino. The quiche breakfast is excellent. Atmosphere is great . The owners are friendly. Everything good about XO. Absolutely recommended and an authentic 5 stars.

This is one of the cutest coffee spots in the city! The molasses cookie and crumb cake were excellent. I highly recommend either or both. The coffee was also hot, strong, and delish! I love the inside of this place and their location. You have to go.

Absolutely love it here. The ‘California turkey’ sandwich (house-roasted turkey with avocado on artisanal bread) with a side salad (heaping pile of spring greens with tomatoes and cucumbers), is the best deal in town at $20. And the ladies who work here are SO nice. Such an awesome vibe and neighborhood feel. I love sitting outside on this corner in the sun to eat my sandwich. Thank you so much Cafe XO!!

A semi-fancy coffee shop, with exquisite decor. It is a good place to work, and you will see many other patrons working. No surprise, with the free wifi and many outlets. The only thing to complain about would be the cold. Speaking of patrons, they betray the coffee shop's Noe Valley location. The coffee shop seems to have good breakfast and brunch options, and a colorful palette of pastries. However, the lunch options were more limited. Also, prices were toward the posh side. I had mixed feelings about the staff. Some of them were very courteous, others rather aloof. Everything considered, I will probably nonetheless come here again one morning.

lowkey coffee shop with real food, great prices and cosy atmosphere. in a city full of tech hipster cafes with overpriced pastries and uncomfortable seating, Cafe XO rises above. this down to earth, family-owned cafe feels like old school sf - homemade quiches, warm chocolate milk, pleasant regulars but also no rules about laptops. they play telenovelas with the sound off, make delicious sandwiches and have genuinely kind staff. it’s the perfect place to meet a friend and chat or study for a few hours without feeling like you’re breaking the rules. they even had a few vegan/gf goodies like homemade date bars. thank you for being a much needed outpost in this beautiful city!
